Highfield Level 6 Award (SCQF) for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry Top Up

Who should attend?

The SIA Door Supervisor Training Top Up course is specifically designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements, the qualification will allow them to meet their mandatory top-up requirements and retain their SIA licence.

Since 1st October 2021, candidates renewing their SIA license have been required to undertake Top-Up training to align their current qualifications and skills with the April 2021 changes that came in to effect.

Training Time

Minimum contact time (stipulated by the SIA) – Please note 13 hours and 35 minutes is the minimum contact time (MCT) as stipulated by the SIA which is applicable if self-study is applied for the Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry and Principles of Using Equipment for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry units. If self-study isn’t applied for these units, then the MCT for this qualification will be 17 hours.

Entry requirements for SIA Door Supervisor Training Top Up

  1. Age – In order to enrol in an SIA course, you must be at least 18 years of age. This is a legal requirement and is designed to ensure that individuals are mature enough to work in the security industry.
  2. First Aid – Learners will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It is an SIA requirement that training centres must confirm that each learner is sufficiently qualified in First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW).
  3. English language proficiency – Most SIA courses will require individuals to have a good level of English language proficiency. This is because many of the course materials and assessments will be in English, and individuals need to be able to understand and communicate effectively.
  4. Criminal record – Some SIA courses, particularly those that involve working with vulnerable people or in sensitive areas, may require individuals to undergo a criminal record check. This is to ensure that individuals do not have any criminal convictions that could impact their ability to work in the security industry.
  5. Fitness – Some SIA courses, particularly those that involve physical intervention or require individuals to be physically present on the premises, may have fitness requirements. This is to ensure that individuals are physically capable of performing their duties safely and effectively.
  6. Right to work in the UK – In order to enrol in an SIA course in London, you must have the right to work in the UK. This is a legal requirement and is designed to ensure that individuals are legally allowed to work in the country.
